Why perform a gait assessment?
Running gait evaluation can identify biomechanics that place extra loads on an injured structure. I look at the whole picture when it comes to gait mechanics. This will involve learning about your volume and training history, and assessing the way you move on and off the treadmill. Together, we can decide if changing your running biomechanics can help temporarily shift loads away from the injured structure to get you back to running faster and make your rehab more efficient. Changes in running biomechanics do not need to be permanent; just long enough to get you running consistently again pain free.
If you are pain-free, but you want to learn more about running and your individual gait mechanics, a video gait analysis can be a valuable piece of the puzzle.
